Building Ontario’s Economy
As the world faces economic uncertainty, the Ontario government is building a province that attracts investment and protects jobs. This includes helping to unlock critical minerals opportunities in the North so they can be combined with clean steel and the automotive supply chain in Southern Ontario. The government is supporting the transformation of Ontario into a North American leader in electric and hybrid vehicle and battery manufacturing.
Working for Workers
To address Ontario’s historic labour shortage, the government is modernizing the skilled trades and apprenticeship system, investing in and enhancing the Skills Development Fund, expanding worker supports, and making changes that would allow a person with a disability on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) to keep more of the money they earn.
Keeping Costs Down
With elevated inflation, the government is continuing to provide relief and put more money back into people’s pockets by proposing to extend the gas tax and fuel tax cuts. The plan is prioritizing those who need the most help by proposing to temporarily increase financial support for about 200,000 of Ontario’s lowest-income seniors.
Economic and Fiscal Overview
The government is continuing to invest in building Ontario through a prudent and responsible fiscal plan, which preserves the flexibility to provide targeted support for people and businesses amid global economic uncertainty.
